University of Kurdistan Receives Accreditation from Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education

University of Kurdistan Hewler is glad to announce that it has received accreditation from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Federal Government of Iraq. 

On Tuesday, January 14th 2020, Iraq’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research officially announced the accreditation of the University of Kurdistan after the ministry’s Studies and Planning Department completed its auditing process.


After the final auditing visit to UKH in September 2019, the Ministry approved UKH’s recognition in January 2020. The decree by the Ministry recognizes UKH’s School of Medicine, School of Business, School of Social Sciences and the School of Science and Engineering. The ministerial decree also states UKH’s inclusion in Iraq’s Central Student Admissions Guidebook.

This recognition is announced one week after UKH being ranked at the top of Kurdistan Region’s public universities ranking issued by KRG’s Ministry of Higher Education, for the second year in a row.

University of Kurdistan was established in 2006. Since then, UKH has been a leading academic institution in the region with its advanced curriculum and unique status.
