On January 23, 2024 a delegation from the Lithuanian Digital Explorers programme visited UKH. The delegation included Former Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Lithuania Mantas Adomėnas and the Managing Director at OSMOS Žilvinas Švedkauskas.
The delegation met with UKH President, Prof. Dr. Keith Sharp, Vice President Prof. Dr. Dana Mawlood and the acting dean of the School of Science and Engineering (SSE) Prof. Dr. Tarik A. Rashid.
UKH president gave an overview on UKH’s background, it’s current status and future plans. On educating future leaders, UKH president highlighted that leadership is a common attribute of UKH graduates who are innovative, change makers and creative in their workplaces locally and internationally.
Mr. Adomėnas stated that Digital Explorers are on their first visit to Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and are breaking the ice on bilateral relations between Lithuanian and Iraq institutions and businesses.
Both sides agreed to conduct follow up meetings in the future and work to establish university-to-university relations between UKH and Lithuanian universities. UKH is keen to expand it’s international relations with universities worldwide and broaden its exchange programmes which is a core UKH value to uplift higher education quality in the region.
