UKH Secures $32M Software Grant from Halliburton

The University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH) is proud to announce securing a significant grant worth $32 Million for Landmark Software from US oil and gas service company Halliburton. The grant was announced in a ceremony on Sunday 6 August 2023 in UKH in presence of UKH President Prof. Dr. Keith Sharp, Vice President Prof. Dr. Dana Mawlood, Halliburton District Manager – Kurdistan Kareem El Ba

nna, students and faculty of UKH Petroleum programme.

The grant enables UKH students and faculty of Petroleum Engineering programme access to Landmark software which includes upstream and downstream phases. The software also enables UKH students a better understanding of exploration, drilling, selling and other aspects of the oil and gas industry.

“It is vitally important for our students to be prepared to the market. It is important for our students to be exposed to the cutting-edge technology available” said UKH President Prof. Dr. Keith Sharp in his opening remarks in the ceremony. “This software helps our students to be aware of the latest developments in the oil and gas industry and it is a remarkable achievement for UKH” he continued.

Kareem El Banna also gave remarks in the ceremony and highlighted that they are very happy to offer such a contribution to UKH students of Petroleum Engineering.

“This software is very useful for students to understand what is going in the oil and gas industry. Through this software, students will clearly understand oil from the reservoir up to production and trading phases.”  said El Banna, indicating that students are the future of this business and that Halliburton is more than happy to support future leaders.
