A delegation from the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH), represented by Prof. Dr. Christopher Bridle, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Noor Qader, faculty member of the Architectural Engineering programme, was invited to the University of Portsmouth (UoP) to explore potential collaborations and academic partnerships.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by Joe Hall, Global Engagement Officer; Martin Andrews, Associate Dean (Global Engagement & Education Partnerships); Roberto Braglia,
Associate Head (Global Engagement and Education Partnerships); and Tarek Teba, Associate Professor in Architectural Heritage and Co-Chair of the University of Portsmouth Heritage Hub.
During the visit, the UKH delegation engaged with key departments across the university, including Creative and Cultural Industries, accompanied by Martin Andrews, Roberto Braglia, Tarek Teba, and Rachel Wassell (CCI Faculty Global Engagement Officer).
During the tour, they also visited the Centre for Creative and Immersive Extended Reality (CCIXR), where Alex Counsell, UoP Technical Adviser, demonstrated how immersive technologies are being used for creative industries.
The delegation then met with Jacqueline Priego, Associate Dean (Global Engagement); Ostap Kushnir, Associate Head (Global Engagement); and Mr. Emmanuel Godin, Subject Area Leader for Politics, International Relations, and International Development at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The delegation then had a meeting at the Faculty of Technology with Janka Chlebikova, Associate Head (Partnerships), School of Computing. Discussions with Tarek Teba also took place regarding the UoP exhibition on architectural heritage research.
UKH representatives had the opportunity to meet with Chris Chang, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global Engagement and Student Life), and Bobby Mehta, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Global
Engagement), to further discuss institutional partnerships and academic exchanges.
This visit marked a significant step in strengthening ties between UKH and the UoP and is part of the UKH internationalisation campaign.
