University of Dundee Delegation Visit UKH

A delegation from the University of Dundee (Scotland), represented by the university’s Principal and Vice Chancellor (VC) Professor Iain Gillespie, and Director of Educational Partnerships Development Jason Norris visited the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH) on June 4th 2023.

The delegation was accompanied by Dr. Karzan Karim, KRG Prime Minister’s Senior Advisor for Education and Higher Education. They were warmly welcomed by UKH President Prof. Dr. Keith Sharp and Vice President Prof. Dr. Dana Mawlood.

Professor Sharp gave an overview on UKH’s background, current status and future plans for expansion and further community outreach and international experience exchange. “International partnerships sits on the top of our agenda” he said. “We want to set new benchmarks for our students’ experience through new partnerships and agreements with prestigious institutions” he continued.

Dundee VC explained the structure of the university and highlighted their visit to Baghdad prior to coming to Erbil. He also shed the light on their schools, especially medicine and engineering.

The two sides discussed ways of mutual cooperation in the future especially in research, medicine and environment and water engineering fields. “We want to use the opportunities given by the government to work on environment related specialties” said the Dundee VC.
