The University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH) is proud to announce that Mahmood K. Abbas Agha, a senior student in the Computer Science programme, has secured first place in the 12th Undergraduate Research and Innovation Competition held at Abu Dhabi University, United Arab Emirates.
This prestigious competition featured over 600 projects from students representing 105 universities worldwide. Among these outstanding entries, Mahmood’s project, “Automation of Vertical Sky Crane” – a pioneering self-assembling crane designed to transform automated construction – was awarded first place in the highly competitive “Innovation Track”.
This achievement marks a historic milestone, as it is the first time a student from the Kurdistan Region has claimed this top honour, bringing pride to both UKH and the wider Kurdistan Region. Mahmood’s innovative project not only showcases the ingenuity and impact of his work but also reflects the immense potential and talent of UKH students on the global stage.
“I am truly honored to have represented both UKH and Kurdistan in such a remarkable way, and I am excited about the opportunities this award may unlock,” said Mahmood.
