UKH Launches Third Round of English Language Training for Peshmerga Officers

The University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH) is glad to announce the start of the third round of the English language training course for 18 officers and non-commission Peshmerga officers. This training course is funded by the British Consulate General in Erbil.

The opening ceremony of this round of the training was held on Sunday 5 November 2023 and was attended by UKH President Prof. Dr. Keith Sharp, Wing Commander Morgan Williams at the British Consulate General and Colonel Saadula Aziz of the English Language Centre, KRG Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs (MOPA), as well as the participating officers.

Prof. Sharp welcomed the participants of the course and said that UKH is glad to support Peshmerga officers develop English language skills at UKH. He vowed continuous support to such projects and congratulated the participants on being selected to this course.

Wing Commander Williams also delivered a short speech and congratulated the officers on the start of their course and stated that this course is part of a wider number of initiatives led by the Directorate of Reform in the Ministry of Peshmerga.

“I implore you to take full advantage of the university and its staff. The university (UKH) and the British Consulate in Erbil who sponsor and fund the course have made a significant commitment to you; I look forward to hearing of our reciprocal commitment in your study” he said while addressing the participants.

Colonel Sadulla also thanked UKH and the British Consulate for their continuous support to the reforms of the ministry. He also thanked UKH English instructors Kirstin Crawford, Dirk Embery and Matthew Lambert for their unwavering support to the courses over the past years.
