UKH Centre for Peacebuilding and Dialogue Sign MoU with KRG High Council for Women

The Centre for Peacebuilding and Dialogue (CPD) at the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the High Council for Women and Development (HCWD) to establish the National Women Peace Mediators Network in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI).

The MoU was signed after a meeting with HCWD delegation led by Dr. Khanzad Ahmed, Secretary General of the council who were warmly welcomed to UKH by Prof. Dr. Keith Sharp UKH President and Dr. Bayar Mustafa, Dean of CPD.

The collaboration aims to select, train, and empower women mediators to actively engage in peacebuilding and conflict resolution at local and national levels. It also supports Iraq’s National Action Plan on Women, Peace, and Security.

The MoU outlines joint efforts in capacity building, stakeholder coordination, and organising a national conference on International Women’s Day 2025 to launch the Network. UN Women will provide technical and financial support.

This partnership reflects a shared commitment to promoting gender equality and sustainable peace in the region.
