UKH Centre for Environmental Studies and KRG Board of Environment Sign MOU

The Centre for Environmental Studies (CES) at the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH) and the Board of Environment of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on October 10, 2022.

UKH Acting President Keith Sharp, accompanied by Dr. Dara Ghasimi, Director of CES and Dr. Sherine al-Ahmad, Director of UKH Professional and Executive Education Centre visited KRG Board of Environment to sign the (MOU) and discuss future plans.

The (MOU) sets forth the terms and understanding between the Directorate of Technical Affairs (DTA) at the Board of Environmental Protection and Improvement and the Centre for Environmental Studies (CES) for the purpose of creating institutional connections between the parties that are mutually beneficial

Additionally, both parties will work jointly to promote public awareness on climate change and other environmental challenges facing the region in particular and the world in general. UKH students of both of undergraduate and postgraduate levels are also advantaged by accomplishing their capstone projects and final theses, participating in conferences, seminars, workshops and any other events mutually organized.   

The CES and DTA will collaborate to organize joint conferences, seminars, workshops, and events to promote public awareness and disseminate new findings. Both parties will cooperate on promoting and implementing renewable energy as well as sustainable development initiatives in the Kurdistan region of Iraq.
