UKH to Award an Honorary Degree to Prominent Kurdish Author, Khusraw Jaff

The University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH) will award the honorary degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Honoris Causa) to prominent Kurdish author Khusraw Jaff on Monday 9 May 2022.

Khusraw Jaff is a prominent author, historian, artist, architect and designer who was born in the district of Kalar in 1945. Jaff enrolled in elementary school in Kalar and went to Khaneqin to enroll in high school. He later travelled to Tehran to study architecture.

Jaff joined the Peshmerga forces in 1963 in the battle against dictatorship in Iraq. He was later elected as a parliament member in Iraq after toppling the Ba’athis regime in 2003.

Jaff has authored more than 80 books and is currently keeping tens of historic documents, letters and books in his museum-style house.

UKH is awarding Khusraw Jaff an honorary degree of Doctor of Philosophy for the significant contributions he made to social sciences and society. The award ceremony will be held at UKH and will be aired live on media channels.
