Professional Development Course Resume Clinic and Mock Interview Training

Course Description

This course is designed to improve students’ resumé and cover letter writing skills in addition to interview skills. It will cover the structure and format of a resumé in addition to the functions and components of an effective cover letter. It will also cover interview techniques, including portfolio, dress code, answering questions, and follow-up. In order to identify students’ weaknesses and improve their resumé and interview skills, the instructor will have a one-to-one resumé clinic and a mock interview for each student. 

Course Objectives

This course aims to:

  • Build job hunting skills.
  • Enhance interview skills. 
  • Develop resumé and cover letter writing skills.

Course Outcomes

At the end of the course, the participants should be able to:

  • Analyse the job post. 
  • Customise resumé to meet job requirements.
  • Decide the right format of the  resumé.
  • Organise work experience.
  • Match the keywords in a job post with their counterparts in duties under the work experience section.
  • Prepare a portfolio for an interview.
  • Go for an interview.
  • Answer interview questions correctly.
  • Post-interview follow-up.

  • Resume’s Components (day 2). 
  • Working on resumé (day 2).
  • Job Interview (day 3).

Trainer Biography
Dr. Jawdat Tashan completed his Ph.D. at Swinburne University of Technology, Australia. He worked as an Associate Professor and the Dean of Academic Affairs at Metro College, Toronto, Canada. Dr. Tashan worked as a lecturer at Monash University, Australia. He has published many technical journal papers. He has received numerous performance awards during his academic career. He has vast experience in engineering construction. Also, he has successfully designed and managed several megaprojects. He received a notable award for completing projects (US$ 1.0 Billion).
