UKH Medical Students Make Scientific Impact at Middle East Rheumatology Conference

100%

We are proud to celebrate the achievement of UKH medical future leaders Haya Araz Husein and Lavan Fadhil Nabi, fifth-year undergraduate students from our MBBS programme, who represented the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH) at the prestigious Middle East Rheumatology Conference (MRC 2025) in Dubai.

Their research abstract, titled “Association of HLA-B27 with Psoriatic Arthritis Manifestations in Erbil,” was accepted for oral presentation, a significant distinction, as it was the only presentation delivered by students in a conference otherwise featuring medical specialists.

The abstract was rigorously reviewed by a committee of 18 expert rheumatologists from across the Middle East. Based on the quality of submissions, the committee selected works to be presented either as oral or poster presentations. Being chosen for oral presentation is an indication of high scientific merit and places their work among the top tier of submissions.

This milestone not only highlights the remarkable talent and dedication of UKH’s medical students but also reflects the growing reputation of our academic and research culture on the international stage.

Congratulations to Haya and Lavan on this exceptional achievement and we look forward to their continued success in medical research and practice.
