100%

Recently, the Centre for Environmental Studies (CES) at the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Wadi e.V. (Wadi), a distinguished organisation based in Frankfurt, Germany, promoting educational programmes, research, and awareness raising initiatives through capacity building since 1992 in the Middle East, including the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI).

One of Wadi’s main objectives is to support projects to reduce climate change risks, including Iraq through awareness raising sessions at various educational institutions, and to promote recycling programmes among locals and refugees in Iraq.

The mutual agreement will enhance the collaboration between both institutions to develop academic and cultural interchange for the purpose of education, research, and protection of Kurdistan’s cultural heritage. The activities include training, joint workshops and conferences on cultural heritage preservation for undergraduate and graduate students, joint research initiatives, joint conferences and workshops to promote academic exchange and community engagement, collaborative cultural programmes to celebrate and preserve the rich traditions of Kurdistan, and exchange of essential academic and educational materials to enhance educational and research capacity.

The CES will welcome Wadi’s Representative and Chairwoman, Dr. Anne Mollenhauer to conduct training sessions, seminars and panel discussions for UKH students throughout the academic year for different topics related to cultural heritage preservation, theory and practice.

This collaboration represents a significant step forward in our mission to enhance international academic partnerships and promote the sustainable protection of our cultural legacy.
