UKH and University of Leipzig to Cooperate in Research, Education

Amid efforts to widen the university’s international engagement and outreach, the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH) is glad to announce its agreement with the University of Leipzig – one of the oldest universities in the world – to cooperate on a variety of levels and fields.

On February 20, 2023 UKH president Professor Keith Sharp signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of Leipzig represented by Prof. Dr. Sebastian Maisel, the Executive of Leipzig University’s Institute of Oriental Studies.

Sharp was accompanied by Dr. Bayar Mustafa, the Dean of External Engagement and Research at UKH and explored a variety of projects and prospects at the University of Leipzig.

The two sides are conscious of the aspiration to extend international cooperation and have common intentions in the field of scientific research and education.

The basic principles of the MOU includes cooperation to exchange academic staff, undergraduate and postgraduate students, organizing bilateral dual programmes, promotion of research and render mutual assistance in raising scientific qualifications of the academic staff.

The two universities also agreed to promote the exchange of publications and documentation of current researches, share experiences in developing teaching methods and techniques and organisation of bilateral joint symposiums, summer school workshops and conferences. The two institutions will also combine efforts for possible joint research programmes and projects.
