Both institutions, represented by presidents Bill Rammell of UKH and Prof. Dr. Gesine Grande of BTU signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) in which they declared the intention to develop and support cooperation between both institutions. This agreement is supported and funded by the joint DAAD project “German-Iraqi Academic Partnerships – Initiation 2022, Sustainability in the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (Susi UKH) VI”.

The MOU was finalized in October 2021. Soon after, a delegation of academics and students from BTU visited UKH and delivered workshops and lectures on quality management, project management, entrepreneurship and climate change to UKH students and staff. The agreement also includes the exchange of information such as academic materials, academic publications, and information as well as staff and student mobility.

Both institutions aim to exchange undergraduate and graduate students and encourage their staff members to spend periods at the partner institution for teaching and research. As a part of the student exchange, UKH postgraduate student Dana Abdulkareem Hasan spent over two months in BTU for research and training and he was awarded the “Green Belt” in Six Sigma Quality Management Certificate.
