Erbil, Kurdistan Region – 07 October 2026 – The Centre for Environmental Studies (CES) at the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH) organised a workshop focusing on the “Current Status and Emerging Challenges of Groundwater and Surface Water Quality in Erbil City.”
The workshop brought together academics, water-resource specialists, government officials, students and members of relevant organisations to discuss water-quality monitoring and control, identifying sources of pollution, and the sustainable management of water resources.
The workshop aimed to explore effective solutions to current environmental and water-resource challenges by strengthening collaboration between academia, government institutions, and environmental stakeholders across the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
