Erbil, Kurdistan Region – 7 October 2026 – The Centre for Environmental Studies (CES) at the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH) contributed to the development of the draft Kurdistan Building Code Guidelines for Modern Green Schools.
The initiative was developed in coordination with UNICEF and the Kurdistan Regional Government’s Ministry of Education, based on guidelines provided by the World Bank and R.I.G.H.T., and in collaboration with relevant ministries and stakeholders.
As part of this initiative, a workshop titled “The Development of Green Building Standards and Guidelines for Educational Environments” was held on 7 October 2026, highlighting the importance of adopting sustainable building standards and environmentally friendly practices in educational facilities.
This contribution reflects UKH’s commitment to promoting environmental sustainability, strengthening institutional collaboration and supporting the development of sustainable educational infrastructure in the Kurdistan Region.
