The Vice Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Erbil, Mr. Liu Zhenyong visited the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH) on Wednesday 21 June 2023.
Mr. Zhenyong was accompanied by Mr. Chen Guojing from the Political Section of the Consulate General, and both were welcomed by UKH President Prof. Dr. Keith Sharp.
Prof. Sharp highlighted UKH’s growth stages and the plans to expand UKH and shed the light on the internationalisation of the university. He explained the new programmes of study UKH is offering in technology, gaming, digital media, pharmacy and social sciences.
Capacity building is a core of UKH’s development plan. Prof. Sharp stated that UKH intends to broaden the scope of its current international partnerships and cooperation with other universities and research institutions.
Mr. Zhenyong hailed UKH for its good reputation and stated the Consulate General’s openness to contribute to establishing new connections between UKH and Chinese research institutes, corporates and universities. He also shed the light on the importance of student and staff exchange and capacity building programmes, as well as teaching Chinese language courses.
