Kurdish Mountain Goat Mascot Design Competition

January 2, 2024

We are delighted to announce an exciting design competition for a Mascot for UKH. We have decided to have a Kurdish Mountain Goat as our symbol for a mascot, and we are going to choose the best mascot designed by students. Please find further details below.

After much deliberation and consolation, UKH has decided on Kurdish mountain goat as itโ€™s mascot and we are launching a competition for our current students to submit their creative designs for approval.

What is a mascot?

Mascots are symbols, often represented by an animal, thought to bring luck to the organisation they represent. Many universities around the world have mascots, which serve as representations of the spirit of the university and are often used to bring luck in competitions, such as sporting events. Usually there will be a logo โ€“ or set of images โ€“ incorporating the mascot, which is secondary to the official university logo, but is used in relation to student activities and teams. Often, universities have soft toy versions of their mascot and sometimes these include full-sized costumes which are worn at sporting events and celebrations.

Why the Kurdish mountain goat?

For their deep historical ties to the Kurdish people and Kurdistan. These extraordinary creatures are known to have been domesticated by Kurds in the Zagros Mountain area as long as 10,000 years. The Kurdish mountain goat also symbolizes power and strength in the Kurdish literature.

Who can apply?

Only UKH current students.
