Ahmad Bayiz Ahmad, PhD, SFHEA, CMBE

Introduction

Ahmad is the Programme Director of Business, Management and Economics in the School of Management and Economics (SME) at the University of Kurdistan Hewler. He joined SME, first, as a Visiting Supervisor in October 2020 and then as a Lecturer in September 2021. His responsibilities as the Programme Director include membership of the University’s Academic Board, develop, review, and validate/revalidate new and existing undergraduate and postgraduate programmes; supervision of curriculum development; review of module syllabus; review and approval of exams and grades; handling complaints and misconducts as the first point of contact. He was a key member of a team to develop three doctoral programmes at UKH: PhD in Business Management, PhD in Banking and Finance, and Iraq’s first Doctor of Business Administration (DBA). Prior to his current role, Ahmad was the Acting Chair of Business and Management at UKH in January to October 2022 where he led the development of four new undergraduate business-related programmes. Before joining UKH, he worked as a faculty member of Management Studies at the University of Raparin from October 2015 where he contributed to the establishment of Department of Business Management and also was a member of several committees at the University or College level. He also spent three years as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the School of International and Public Affairs, Shanghai Jia Tong University in China where he both published research papers and supported Masters and PhD students on their dissertations. Ahmad is also a Certified Management & Business Educator (CMBE) from UK’s Chartered Association of Business Schools. He is also a Certified HR OD Practitioner from Academy to Innovate HR, The Netherlands.

Research

Ahmad is a highly published academic who possesses a considerable amount of experience research and supervision. His research focuses on the "people side" of management and organizations. He mainly studies employee attitudes and behaviors in public & private organizations. He employs both quantitative (cross-sectional, multi-wave, multi-level and survey experiments) and qualitative methods in my studies. To further his expertise on employee attitudes and behaviors, he has developed collaborative research networks with scholars in various countries; including: Australia, China, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom & the United States of America. In 2018, he was chosen as the No. 1 Social Science Researcher of the Year by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. As of today, he received financial support for his research that has resulted in 23 publications in international peer reviewed journals such as Public Administration Review (ABS4*), International Public Management Journal (ABS3), Review of Public Personnel Administration, Journal of Knowledge Management, Personnel Review, and other international journals. He is also editorial board member or reviewer of over a dozen prestigious journals such as Public Administration Review (ABS4*), Journal of Change Management, & International Journal of Public Management.
