Overview

This programme is designed for students from civil engineering or water and environmental engineering backgrounds or a closely related field of study. It is a ‘taught’ and ‘research’ based Master programme, which includes the Master’s student competence, knowledge and skills in the field of Water and Environmental Engineering and takes professional engineers steps further into their field of specialty and strengthens their theoretical and practical capability. This MSc programme is to help students in the Kurdistan region to pursue their postgraduate studies by employing advanced and cutting-edge water and environmental engineering technologies, which will eventually prepare them to be leaders in Water and Environmental Engineering and help the Kurdistan region continue to flourish. Our graduates would also be able to teach in the educational institutions in the Kurdistan region with the emphasis on the state of art of the water and environmental engineering technologies. 

Admission Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree: Minimum undergraduate average of 60% is required in a related field of study.
  • Equalised transcript is required for students who have graduated from international institutions.
  • Official Transcripts: Provide a copy of your undergraduate transcript with your application.
  • English Language Proficiency: Minimum English Language proficiency requirement is 50 in PTE, 6 in IELTS -74 in IBT-TOEFL or 105 in Duolingo.

  • A copy of your passport and national ID.

Curriculum

Modules:

The teaching list includes, but is not limited to, modules such as: Advanced Mathematics and Engineering Analysis; Advanced Fluid Mechanics; Advanced Engineering Hydrology; Advance Design of Hydraulic Structures; Machine Learning Application for Water and Environment; Climate Change Adaptation in Water Resources; Fluvial Hydraulics and the Design of Embankment Dams.

Skills Development

This programme is a specialised academic programme designed to equip students with advanced knowledge and skills in addressing complex challenges related to water resources management and engineering solutions for environmental issues. The programme will enable students to undertake a research project in water and environmental engineering that makes up a considerable part of the overall assessment. The students will be capable to choose a research subject and develop a proposal to work on. In addition, other skills such as learning how to take initiative and responsibility, solve problems in creative and innovative ways, continue to learn independently and to develop professional capacity will be practiced.
