Overview

The BSc in Banking and Finance (BBF) caters to the employability needs of the fast growing economic, financial and banking sectors of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI). This is a 480-credit degree programme, delivered in eight semesters over four academic years (AY), predominantly in the form of taught 20-credit modules. Typically, the AY1 of the programme is devoted to developing students’ familiarity with concepts and theories, mixed with the development of practical and applied skills, utilising social formats such as discussions, debates, negotiations and presentations. The remaining 3 years are spent exposing the student to critical thinking, real-world practical experience and developing the required knowledge and skills to success in the workforce. In AY4, students are required to write a 5,000-word research dissertation.

Admission Requirements

  • High School Diploma: High school certificate attained within the last five years and have obtained a high school average score of 60% or above.
  • English Language Proficiency: Minimum English Language requirement is 45 in PTE, 5.5 in IELTS -64 in ibt-TOEFL or 95 in Duolingo.
  • Equalized transcript is required for students who have graduated from international institutions.
  • Applicants dismissed for any reason from any university, school or college will not be considered.

  • Application Form:  Online application.
  • Official transcripts:  A copy of the official transcript (An equalised transcript is required for applicants who graduated from international institutions).
  • Certification Letter from the High School confirming applicant’s High School Average.
  • A copy of your Passport/ID.

Curriculum

Candidates registered for the First Year develop familiarity with the major functional areas in business such as management, marketing, accounting and business analytics and are exposed to academic and employability skills. In the remaining years, the programme provides a thorough grounding in both theory and current practice, including specialist modules in banking and finance, in a constructive manner. Students develop the analytical, quantitative, research and communication skills required by leading employers in retail and investment banking as well as in the financial services industry.
