University of Kurdistan Hewlêr Achieves Second Place at Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition – Iraq National Round 2026
Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq – The University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH) achieved a historic milestone by securing Second Place at the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition – Iraq National Round 2026, competing against 12 universities from across Iraq.
Participating in the competition for the first time, UKH students from the Law and International Relations programmes demonstrated outstanding legal research, advocacy, and teamwork. The Jessup competition is widely recognised as one of the world’s most prestigious international law moot court competitions, requiring participants to address complex issues of public international law through written memorials and oral arguments.
This achievement reflects the dedication of UKH students and the support of their faculty and coaches, while further strengthening the university’s reputation within Iraq’s academic and legal communities.
