The University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH) is proud to announce that its School of Medicine (SOM) has been awarded the WOHR Humanitarian Excellence Award for Academic Institutions on 16th July 2025, in recognition of its outstanding commitment to promoting humanitarian values in academic and professional interactions.
This prestigious award was granted following a national survey conducted by the awarding body, which assessed institutions across the country on key indicators such as mutual respect, compassion, ethical conduct, and the strength of human connection within academic environments. The UKH School of Medicine emerged as a leading model, setting exemplary standards in the relationships between students, faculty, and the wider university community.
The award ceremony was held on campus and attended by senior UKH leadership, faculty members, and students. Representatives from the awarding organisation praised UKH’s consistent dedication to building an inclusive, collegial, and humane learning environment.
During the event, Dr. Manhal A. Amber, Medical Advisor to the awarding body, officially presented the award and expressed admiration for the School’s leadership and ethical values.
