Mr. Robert O’Hanlon

Mr Robert O’Hanlon is a Partner at Deloitte Middle East where he serves as the Chief Risk Officer and a Member of the Executive Committee. He plays a leadership role in shaping and leading the firm’s risk strategy, governance and business resilience across the 15 countries that the Middle East Firm operates in.
Robert is responsible for overseeing Client Acceptance; Business Relationships; Regulatory compliance (including AML compliance); Ethics; Auditor Independence; Security; and Quality, ensuring that client services meet the highest standards of professional integrity and trust. As part of his role he works closely with regulators across the Middle East, understanding their needs and engaging on areas of mutual interest. He has served for many years as a registered AML Officer in the United Arab Emirates.
With close to four decades of experience in professional services and corporate advisory at Deloitte, Robert has worked extensively across the Middle East and Africa, fulfilling operational and leadership roles in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman, Yemen, South Africa, Namibia, Libya, Sudan and South Sudan. In addition to his regional roles, Robert maintains specific oversight for all activities in Iraq, including the Kurdistan Region, where he travels frequently.
A Chartered Accountant by training, Robert gained his core expertise while developing his career as an Auditor and Business Advisor. He has over time developed specific expertise in the Oil and Gas sector, where he continues to advise a number of clients in the Middle East region.
