Youth in Peacebuilding Training Programme

100%

As part of the collaboration between Centre for Peacebuilding and Dialogue (CPD) at the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH), and forumZFD, a new training series titled “Youth in Peacebuilding” will launch and run over the next three months, concluding at the end of December 2024. The main objective of this training is to build the capacities of university students in peacebuilding measures and to create a safe space for dialogue on the most pressing issues in Kurdistan. This initiative will culminate in recommendations developed during the Dialogue Day event in December.

The first module, titled “Understanding Peacebuilding,” will take place at UKH on October 15, 16, and 17, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The purpose of this module is to provide participants with a comprehensive introduction to the fundamental concepts of peace and conflict.

The first day of the training will cover topics related to the different dimensions of peace (positive and negative peace), conflict, various forms of violence, and peacebuilding measures. This foundation will help participants engage not only with the terminology but also develop a nuanced understanding of the complexities of their surroundings.

On the second day of the training, participants will be introduced to the concept of the conflict tree, a valuable analytical tool that will help them examine the current situation and the position of youth within their communities. Additionally, they will explore the concept of youth activism, discussing various initiatives they can implement to address the obstacles identified through the conflict tree analysis.

The third day of the training will be dedicated to discussing the crucial role of youth in the peacebuilding and community engagement.

Interested participants from all universities in Erbil are invited to submit a motivation letter with a maximum of 1,000 characters (including spaces).
