Introduction
Dr Mohammed Ali Bapir is an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Politics and International Relations at the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr, where he has served since 2017. He holds an MA in Politics and a PhD in Politics and International Studies from the University of Warwick, following his BA in Politics and International Relations from UKH. His research interests encompass democratic transition and consolidation (particularly political elites, institutions, and party systems in the Middle East) as well as Islamic and Western political thought. Through his teaching, research, and academic leadership, Dr Bapir is committed to advancing critical inquiry and preparing the next generation of political thinkers and practitioners in the Kurdistan Region and beyond.
