Hossein Hassani
Assistant Professor
Overview
I joined the UKH academic staff in 2007, after having more than 17 years of experience in the software industry. During my career in the industry, I maintained my relationship with higher education through providing seminars and engagement in occasional teaching at the universities.
I started working as a programmer and undertook different positions as the software designer, database designer, senior analyst, project manager, software quality auditor, and senior IT consultant during my carrier in the software industry. I worked on numerous projects with a variety of themes extending from the commercial software development for large statewide enterprises to machine translation projects, on the one side, and from the implementation of Software Quality Management (SQM) schemes to the adaptation of software solution and development frameworks (e.g., MSF and RUP), on the other side.
I hold a PhD degree in Computer Science. Primarily, I am interested in research in Natural Language Processing and Computational Linguistics focusing on the Kurdish language. To focus on this topic, I have founded the Kurdish BLARK (https://kurdishblark.github.io/). Additionally, I work on Machine Learning, Big Data, and Software Engineering processes as well. I am a member of ACL (Association for Computational Linguistics).
