Introduction
Ergin Opengin is a senior lecturer in Applied Linguistics at the English Language Department of the University of Kurdistan-Hewlêr. A former faculty member at UKH between 2019-2022, he re-joined the department in September 2025. He previously worked at the University of Cambridge (2022-2025) and University of Bamberg (2013-2016). Dr. Opengin specializes in Sociolinguistics and Language Description and teaches various Linguistics courses at UKH. He is the author of The Mukri Variety of Central Kurdish (Reichert, 2016) while he has also co-edited three volumes and published a number of articles on various aspects of Kurdish and Iranian languages.
