Dyari M. Mohammed Sharif, MSc
Assistant Lecturer in Cybersecurity/ Programme Coordinator of Computer Science & Cybersecurity (UG)
Introduction
Dyari Mohammed Sharif is an academic and researcher working on cybersecurity and secure AI, with interests in adversarial attacks on AI systems, AI robustness, and AI–based detection of cyber-attacks (e.g. DDoS). He combines academic research in cybersecurity with strong applied experience in large-scale data management, automation, and digital transformation initiatives. His teaching emphasizes critical thinking, hands-on labs, and real-world cybersecurity applications. He achieved top results in his studies at Soran University, ranking first at undergraduate level and placing first in both the MSc and PhD candidacy examinations across both Faculties of Science and Engineering.
Education
- MSc in Computer Science (AI for Cybersecurity), Soran University, 2023
- BSc in Computer Science/ Software, Soran University, 2019
Research
Dyari researches the security of AI systems by both building and challenging them. He develops AI models to detect cyber-attacks (e.g. DDoS), while also studying how AI models themselves can be attacked. He deliberately tests AI systems to uncover hidden weaknesses. He has open-sourced several of these attack implementations and his goal is to ensure AI technologies are not only powerful, but secure, robust, and trustworthy.
