Dana Abdulkareem Hasan Bndyan, MSc

Introduction

Dana Abdulkareem Hasan is the Head of the Petroleum Engineering Department and a PhD Candidate specializing in Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) and carbon sequestration. With over 10 years of experience in both academia and the energy industry, he leads departmental strategy, laboratory development, and multidisciplinary research teams.

Dana combines deep technical expertise in reservoir simulation (Petrel, ECLIPSE) with strategic business acumen gained through an Executive MBA. He is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) and is Six Sigma Green Belt certified, reflecting his commitment to pedagogical excellence and operational quality management.

Research

My research focuses on advancing Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) techniques and Carbon Sequestration strategies within carbonate reservoirs. I am particularly interested in the application of nanotechnology and chemical systems to improve oil displacement efficiency under complex reservoir conditions. My work integrates laboratory-scale experimental studies with reservoir engineering principles to address technical challenges such as fluid-rock interactions, wettability modification, and the stabilization of organic components in high-pressure, high-temperature environments. This research supports the broader goal of optimizing hydrocarbon recovery while promoting sustainable CO2 utilization and storage.
