Abbas Yeganeh Bakhtiary, PhD
Assistant Professor in Water Resources Engineering, Programme Coordinator of Civil Engineering
Introduction
Dr. Abbas Yeganeh is an Assistant Professor in the Civil Engineering Programme. Before joining the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH), he spent 20 years at IUST and holds an adjunct senior lectureship at Cardiff University in UK. He has a PhD in Civil Engineering from Kyoto University and holds MSc degrees in Ocean and Civil Engineering. He has been granted a JSPS postdoctoral fellowship for two years and afterwards got a Research Associate position at Disaster Prevention Research Institute (DPRI) Kyoto University. He spent 30 years in practice, holding management positions in private enterprises, and an expert in different branches of Civil Engineering. Due to a keen interest in other cultures, his teaching experience in university academic assignments spans different countries. His research includes collaboration with universities in Japan, UK, Malaysia, USA, and Australia.

Research
Dr Yeganeh has published over 65 research articles in internationally referred journals and more than 100 conference papers. He has supervised 47 MSc Dissertation and more than 10 PhD Thesis. The main field of his research is Environmental Hydraulics including the following special interests: •Climate Change Effect on Water Resources •Application of Machine Learning in Civil Engineering •Water Resources Optimization •Two-phase Flow Modelling •Fluid-Structure Interaction •Sediment Transport •Disaster Prevention and Coastal Resilience
