Dr. Heja Alsindi

Heja Sindi is an academic leader and organizational development advisor with over 25 years of experience in higher education, international development, and continuous improvement. His career combines senior academic leadership, public sector reform, and global advisory work aimed at building effective institutions and sustainable organizational practices.
Dr. Sindi served at the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH) from 2007 to 2021, holding several key leadership positions, including Acting President, Vice President for Academic and Research Affairs, and Dean of the School of Management and Economics. During his tenure, he led strategic planning initiatives, strengthened academic governance, and advanced partnerships between the university, government, and international stakeholders.
He also served at the University of Duhok and has advised the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), the United Nations, UNICEF, and several international and U.S. companies and NGOs, contributing to programs on governance, institutional reform, and capacity development.
Currently based in the United States, he serves on the Planning Commission and the Economic Development Authority in Harrisonburg, Virginia, and teaches Strategic Leadership in a Multicultural World in the MBA program at Eastern Mennonite University. He holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration with a focus on Strategic Leadership, Organizational Development, and Continuous Improvement, and is a Fellow of the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. Dr. Sindi has published papers and articles in Kurdish, English, and Arabic on leadership and institutional reform.
