As part of the “Tourism and Destination Management” module offered by the School of Management and Economics (SME) at the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH), a panel discussion “The Future of Tourism in Kurdistan” was organised to provide our students with real-world insights into the evolving tourism sector and to promote active engagement with key industry stakeholders.
The event featured distinguished guest speakers: Ms. Amal Jalal, Head of the Kurdistan Regional Government Board of Tourism, and Ms. Arazou Barawi, founder of Kurdistan Outdoor. Both speakers offered valuable perspectives that ranged from high-level strategic planning to innovative grassroots entrepreneurship. They shared insights into the current state of tourism in the region, the challenges and opportunities facing the sector, and the important role of innovation and sustainability in shaping its future.
The panel was highly interactive, with students posing thoughtful questions and engaging in meaningful dialogue with the speakers.
Events like “The Future of Tourism in Kurdistan” are integral to UKH’s mission to educate future leaders who are equipped with both theoretical knowledge and practical insights into the sectors that drive the region’s economic and social progress.
