On Saturday 15 April 2023, students from the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH), the Lebanese French University (LFU), and Salahaddin University-Erbil (SUE) participated in the Google Hash Code farewell competition.

Google Hash Code is a global team programming competition organised by Google. The participants, mainly students from UKH and outside, worked in teams of 2-4 people solving a programming challenge inspired by software engineering at Google. UKH has been proudly hosting this event for the last several years.

The event was organised by UKH in collaboration with the British Consulate General in Erbil. During the Iftar break, UKH President Dr. Keith Sharp highlighted the importance of fostering scientific collaboration between UKH and other universities and promoting events such as competitions to spur innovation and growth.

UK Consul General in Erbil Rosy Cave praised the students for their willingness to take on challenges and expressed her happiness for being among the students.

In February 2023, Google announced that it will be discontinuing its Coding Competitions after 2023, the reason why this year it was called the farewell competition.
