The University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH) is proud to announce a 10-week training programme for staff and fighters from the Ministry of Peshmerga in conjunction with the British Consulate General in Erbil.

The students were welcomed by UKH President Mr. Bill Rammell and Wing Commander McKinley from the British Consulate General in Erbil and then received an overview of the course content and objectives by UKH’s English Language Centre Coordinator Kirstin Crawford.

In his opening remarks, UKH President Bill Rammell hailed the Peshmerga forces for their heroic role in defending the Kurdistan Region over the years and in defeating the Islamic State terrorists.

“The Peshmerga played a heroic role in the creation of the Kurdistan Region, its defense against the brutality and evil of ISIS. I pay tribute to the brave fighers in the Peshmerga who left their livelihoods to defeat ISIS” he continued.

Wing Commander Mckinley from the British Consulate General in Erbil thanked UKH for showing support in this important project. He also highlighted the importance of “thinking in other languages” for the Peshmerga staff, amid the ongoing reform process inside the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs.
