MA in Human Resource Management
The Masters of Arts (MA) in Human Resources Management (HRM) is a 120 credit program academic program that aims at equipping students with the latest theories and best practices in Human Resource Management decision areas. The program is designed for those applicants with a background in Business and Management who would like to specialize in research, teaching and consultation within HRM. The applicant should be holding a BA or BSc in Business Management studies/any field that has no less than 60% of courses reflected in the sought degree. The minimum average mark accepted in the undergraduate level is 60%. Applicants need to submit an English language proficiency of PTE 50% or any equivalent exam score. The applicant must successfully pass an entrance exam of both, written and oral questions worth to 30%. The applicant must score at least 15% to be considered for interview. The remaining 70% is valued based on scores given to each mark above the graduation average in the previous degree (one score for extra mark), interview results and any outstanding achievements such as patents, publishing books/ editing and research related to the degree pursued.
Students have to successfully pass the preparation year of two semesters, normally four modules in each semester. Each module carries 15 credits which makes it in total 120 credits for each year followed by one year to write a 60 credit bearing substantial dissertation of 20, 000 words subject to viva. The minimum period for completing the programme is four semesters and the maximum is eight semesters.
Passing mark is 70% in each of the 8 modules being studied over 2 semesters while passing mark is 60% in each of the four modules. The average for the four modules should be no less than 70% at the end of the semester. Different modules have different evaluation modes generally covering a coursework of no less than 40% and no more than 60% while the rest is deployed over the midterm exams, final written exam or projects. Coursework normally includes but not limited to case studies, reports, assignments and presentations.
Admission requirements are:
- Secondary school certificate, attained within the last five years and with a general high school score of 70% and above.
- School Entrance Test (Consists of general knowledge questions)
- Minimum English Language requirement is 45 in PTE, 5.5 in IELTS or 64 in ibt-TOEFL.
- Personal Statement - Essay format with a minimum number of 300 words.
- 2 Recommendation Letters
Applicants dismissed for any reason from any university, school or college will not be considered.
