UKH hosts MYEDREAM and GEN VP for official kickoff of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2016

University of Kurdistan Hewler (UKH) organised a conference on “Entrepreneurship: a dynamic partnership between UKH and MyeDream” in celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week 2016”, yesterday 13th Nov., 2016. The conference opened with keynote address by Minister of Labour and Social Affairs, KRG Mr. Mohammad Qadir???, and welcome address by Prof Jamal Rasul Ameen, Pro Vice Chancellor, UKH. The opening presentation was made by Ms. Buke Cuhadar, Vice President Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN), remarking on the objectives and the achievements of GEN in 2016 and the vast array of events that have been arranged by GEN around the world during this month. The conference was moderated by Mr. Rebeen Pasha, MSP, Founder and President of MyeDream.me. The participants included, Ms. Sharyn Fitzgerald, the Economic and Commercial Officer from USA Consulate General in Erbil, UKH and Erbil community members.
Later the conference was followed by a discussion with a panel of young entrepreneurs, Mashal Sadiq, MyeDream Champion; Sarhang Ahmed, UKH Student; Hama Osman and Sana Karwan, UKH Master Students. The panel focused on the challenges faced by young entrepreneurs in Kurdistan and the role of young entrepreneurs in rebuilding economic growth in Kurdistan. The discussion also focused on entrepreneur’s personal experiences and how they were engaged with the MyeDream initiative.
This conference will be followed by series of events and workshops, to be organised by UKH with collaboration with MyeDream.me. This initiative will open the doors to UKH and Erbil community, to establish their business ideas with a vision that the University will be a hub for small businesses providing assistance in the process of business incubation and under the international rules and regulations with their intellectual property rights preserved.
