The Centre for Regional and International Studies (CRIS) at the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH) will host a major conference titled “The Kurdistan Region of Iraq: Unity and Constitution” on Wednesday 19 May 2021.

The conference will be attended by the Kurdistan Region’s top leading political elites from the major parties, in addition to key international speakers. The one-day conference will host various speeches and open panel discussions from keynote speakers and influential political and religious figures from the Kurdistan Region and beyond.

The necessity of unity among the region’s political parties and the need for a constitution will be discussed in depth, in addition to the different aspects of unity and a constitution for the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.

In light of the Iraqi Constitution, the federal regions are allowed to have their own constitutions. Additionally, President Nechirvan Barzani’s recent attempts to gather all parties around one table and his ambitions for passing a constitution bill in the parliament during his term in office is warmly received by the main governing and opposition parties.

UKH CRIS aims at bringing all parties together for transparent and frank talks on unity and constitution in this conference.
