On December 9th
2020, University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH) officially launched Creativity and
Entrepreneurship Centre (CEC), which is the first university-based
entrepreneurship centre in the Kurdistan Region. The centre contributes both to
the advancement of knowledge and the practice of entrepreneurship.
The event started
with opening remarks from UKH Vice President of Academic Affairs and Research,
Dr. Heja Sindi with the presence of UKH staff and students.
The centre aims at pushing research and youth
entrepreneurship forward in the Kurdistan Region and to become a powerful
national catalyst between the government, the private sector, and academia.
“We are keen to
receive creative ideas at CEC and offer support to develop those ideas into
projects” said Heja Sindi, stressing out the importance of the centre in
motivating youth and women to start thinking of their own businesses at an
UKH CEC is set to kick off its projects in
December 2020 with a vision to become the region’s leading centre stimulating
entrepreneurship through training and research. While the mission is to develop
an entrepreneurial culture and mindset among university students and the general
public and to assist in the creation of entrepreneurs. The Centre will enhance
the community to view entrepreneurship as a viable career choice.
