The University of Kurdistan Hewlêr has managed to move forward in pursuit of getting recognized by the UK-based ASIC, the international academic body that offers accreditation to universities and other educational organizations, a senior UKH official has revealed.
In a seminar presented on Thursday, Dr Sherwan Kafoor, the UKH Director of Quality Assurance and Accreditation, explained to the senior management and faculty members that a team from ASIC will be soon visiting UKH campus to inspect the full range of the university’s provision and supporting activities.
“In 2017, we became the first university in the Kurdistan Region to be ISO 9001:2015 certified of a quality management system,” he said, adding that UKH is now targeting to achieve the international academic accreditation ASIC.
“This recognition is very important to raise the profile the university and to confirm that it meets high standards of education,” Dr Kafoor explained.
He also highlighted how the whole process would be completed in three stages including the inspection visit.
The international accreditation service ASIC details on its website that it inspects the university as a whole such as the health and safety of the premises, the resources available to staff and management, the delivery of the course material, and the welfare of the students.
