The University of Kurdistan Hewlêr is pleased to welcome Professor Philippe Frossard as the Pro-Vice Chancellor for Academic and Research. The distinguished scholar joined UKH in September 2018.
Professor Frossard has held senior positions including Department Head, Dean, Vice-Provost, Provost, Acting Vice Chancellor, and Senior Advisor to the President for over 30 years in research, higher education, health care, leadership and senior administration in different countries such as Europe, the USA, and the Middle East.
His scholarly expertise lies in the field of translational bio-medical research, with special emphasis on the genetic epidemiology of cardio-vascular disorders. He has over 200 publications and 200 conference abstracts, 7 books and 3 US and World patents to his credit.
He received his BSc (1975), MSc (1976), M.Phil. (1977), and Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry and Molecular Biology (1979) at the University Louis Pasteur, Strasbourg, France. He was awarded a D.Sc. (HDR) in Molecular Genetics from his alma mater in 1996 for his lifetime achievements.
He has also been the recipient of numerous prizes and awards, starting in 1971 with UNESCO’s World’s Young Scientist Award (conferred in Göteborg, Sweden, ahead of the First Earth Summit held in Stockholm in 1992), and was made Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite (Knight of the French National Order of Merit) by France’s President Jacques Chirac in 2003.
