Lecturer Sara Salahaddin Attends US Department of State Program for Scholars

The University of Kurdistan Hewl?r?s Department of Politics and International Relations alumni and current academic, Sara Salahaddin, attends the United States Department of State?s funded Study of the US Institutes for Scholars program as the only scholar from Iraq.

The highly-competitive program, that started on June 16th and lasts for six weeks, comprises of intensive, post-graduate level academic programs with integrated study tours whose purpose is to provide foreign university faculty and other scholars the opportunity to deepen their understanding of U.S. society, culture, values and institutions.  Study of the U.S. Institutes for Scholars will take place at various colleges, universities, and institutions throughout the United States.

Sara has been enrolled into the program?s foreign policy discipline, titled ?Grand Strategy in Context: Institutions, People and the Making of US foreign Policy.?

?It is a first-class course where only eighteen participants from around the world have been selected to participate,? said Sara, speaking from New York. ?As a group lecturing US foreign policy, this course develops our practical understanding on how the US foreign policy is formulated, implemented and taught. It will help us improving our syllabus and curriculum.?
