Assistant Professor in Accounting
Introduction
Shibly Abdullah is an Assistant Professor of Accounting and Economics at the School of Management and Economics (SME). He is a qualified Chartered Accountant (CA), registered with Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ). Shibly has taught and led undergraduate and postgraduate programs in accounting, economics, and management over more than two decades. His academic career includes teaching roles at a number of Australian Universities such as Charles Sturt University (CSU), Central Queensland University (CQU), University of Technology Sydney (UTS), and Academies Australasia. He received multiple Excellence in Teaching Awards from CSU and CQU. In addition to his teaching roles, Shibly has served as a Program Coordinator at CSU, overseeing both PG and UG programmes in business administration, professional accounting, commerce, and so on. He has also held leadership roles in academic quality control and curriculum development at Academies Australasia.
Beyond academia, Shibly is actively involved in extracurricular activities. He is an author, community leader, and human rights advocate. He played a pivotal role in founding and moderating extracurricular clubs, including the AIUB Oratory Club and AIUB Performing Arts Club, where he mentored students in debating, public speaking, and performing arts such as stage drama. Furthermore, he has taken a leadership role in organising events like the Multicultural Music and Food Festival in Sydney, which fosters social cohesion and cultural understanding.

Shibly is also a contributing writer to various publications addressing socio-economic and human rights issues in South Asia and globally.
