Introduction
Dr. Omar Khaled Bashar is an Associate Professor in Accounting and Finance at the SME. He is a qualified professional accountant being a registered member of the CPA, Australia. He brings a wealth of experience as a higher education academic having taught at undergraduate and postgraduate levels across three business fields, namely accounting, economics and finance in Australia, Bangladesh, China, Malaysia and Singapore for over 25 years. These include Swinburne University of Technology (SUT) Sarawak Malaysia and Melbourne Australia, Inner Mongolia University of Finance and Economics (IMUFE), China, Kaplan Singapore, Melbourne Polytechnic, Australia, Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM), American International University, Bangladesh (AIUB). As a principal supervisor, he has supervised a number of PhD and Master by Research students to completion. He was a member of the research committee and higher degree by research (HDR) review panel in Swinburne University of Technology (SUT) Sarawak Malaysia and Melbourne Australia. He is an external examiner for doctoral theses of other universities in Australia.

Research
Omar has been active in research and his work spans various fields of business; they are exploratory in nature and with useful policy implications. He published articles in peer reviewed journals, including those of ABDC Tier A and Tier B. These include, among others, Politická ekonomie, Economic Analysis and Policy, Australian Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics, Studies in Economics and Finance, The Journal of Developing Areas, International Journal of Trade and Global Markets, and Malaysian Journal of Economic Studies. Omar presented papers in domestic and international conferences. He also performed the role of session chair and panel review member in these conferences. He co-authored a book chapter on Islamic finance in Singapore published by Routledge for Grenoble Ecole de Management in 2012. Omar has been a reviewer for quality refereed journals, such as Applied Economics (ABDC Tier “A”), Electronic Commerce Research (ABDC Tier “A”), International Journal of Managerial Finance (ABDC Tier “A”), The Journal of Developing Areas (ABDC Tier “B”), and Singapore Economic Review (ABDC Tier “B”). He was a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Business and Innovation.
