UKH has started conducting weekly seminars for and by our Academic staff, or external guests. The main goal of the events is to gather us socially and also as an effective tool in order to explore resources and exploit multidisciplinary competence in different departments at UKH.
The Seminars will be presented by either our Academic Staff or invited guests and will be held at lunch time on Thursdays between 12:30 -13:30. The presenters and audience will be mainly from UKH and our partners, where UKH invites audiences to lunch and refreshments. The presentations will take 15-20 minutes, with 15-20 minutes discussion time.
In this second session, our honorable Assistant Professor Hugo El Kholi from the Political and International Relations Department, will introduce ‘The specificity of political theory as a sub-discipline of political science’. After a brief presentation of its origin, nature and purpose, the social utility of political theory will be concretely illustrated through the analysis of one of the most critical challenges presently faced by the Kurdish people, namely that of translating the spirit of tolerance integral to its public culture into workable political arrangements.
Dr. Hugo joined UKH in September 2015 as an Assistant Professor of Political Theory and International Relations. He holds a PhD in Political Theory from the Paris Institute of Political Science. Before joining UKH, he had been a Visiting Research Follow at the Universities of Oxford and Princeton. He is qualified by the French Council of Universities to teach both Philosophy and Political Science at university level.
