Solar chimney is a device
that is based on employing the thermal effect of solar energy to produce a
temperature difference between the air at the center of a modified
containment and the air at the outlet of its chimney. This temperature
difference creates a density change in the air between the two points, leading
to the flow of air currents based on the ascend of hot air. These currents
are routed through a wind turbine that is connected to a generator. As air
moves the turbine blades at sufficient speeds, electricity is generated.
