The University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH)’s Centre for Peacebuilding and Dialogue (CPD) is glad to announce a 1.5-day conference in partnership with London School of Economics (LSE)’s Middle East Centre on 11 and 12 November 2022.

This event is funded by our ongoing collaborative project between the LSE’s Middle East Centre and University of Kurdistan Hewlêr.

On the first day of the event an exhibition will be organised as part of the event titled “Youth, Art and Women’s Activism in the Kurdistan Region: What is Moving?“. UKH has announced calls for artists to submit their works to the exhibition.

In recent years, the debates on and in the Kurdistan Region have been about political rivalries and corruption, a faltering economy, territorial disputes and gender and sex-based violence (GSBV). But what is happening beyond party politics and the ongoing wars and insecurities at the region’s borders? how are youth and women’s activists and the region’s emerging artists environing their lifeworld and futures? what hurdles do they face, what spaces are they shaping and what is needed to diversify the voices that are heard? our 1.5 day conference is planned to cover all these questions.

If you are interested to participate and showcase your work, please contact Midya Khudhur ([email protected] ) with a short abstract describing your work and some sample photos.
