Activities Performed:

Need assessment of modernizing equipment and facilities for Punjab Irrigation System. Preparing Terms of Reference for developing “Water Resources Management Information System and Decision Support System for Efficient Irrigation Management in Punjab”.
WRMIS includes design and development of geo-database for improved receiving, storage, retrieval, processing, transmission and dissemination of irrigation system operation and management data. Creation of web-based GIS interface that incorporates land use and Digital Elevation Model (DEM) using available resources of the canal irrigated area and link with Google web based applications. Link WRMIS with the telemetry system of Indus River System Authority, climatic data of Pakistan Meteorological Department and databases of other relevant organizations.
DSS includes development of models for improved forecasts of water availability in the basin, based on the forecasts define share of each irrigation canal, finding optimal route
